Thorntown Press is the private printmaking studio of print artist James Hubbard housed at Sugar Creek Art Center, 127 South Pearl Street~ Thorntown, Indiana 46071. Thorntown is located half way between Indianapolis and Lafayette, Indiana four miles west of I 65 North/ SR 47 West exit. Thorntown Press contains a 27" x 48" automated Dickerson Combination Press, a 12" x 24" manual Conrad Etching Press, four large multiple drawer flat files for paper/ print storage, an aquatint cabinet with vacuum for tonal etching, a vertical ferric chloride etching bath, a steel plated commercial hot plate and a photo emulsion light exposure unit.
If you would like to be considered for participation in the Thorntown Press Creative Exchange Program and work alongside the artist, please mail a CD with resume, artist statement, biography, exhibition record and eight digital examples of your art work to the above address, attention James Hubbard. All professional or college student 2D and 3D adult artists are welcome. It is not necessary that you be a printmaker to apply but a professional art focus is strongly desired. Program length is negotiable. Studio rental is available. In addition, a $75 monthly shop fee for press usage will be required if accepted. Artwork will be exchanged between artist and the director at the end of the program.
