Gulf Legacy II (2012)
Media: Copper plate etching & aquatint
To commemorate the many human & animal lives that have been lost due to environmental exploitation, I offer my etching "Gulf Legacy" on the second anniversary of the worst man made disaster in U.S. history- The April 2010 explosion of Deepwater Horizon oil platform. A crab struggles in the BP oil slick that was the result of man made error and greed. In the background the last Caribbean Monk Seal is seen in 1952. Columbus ordered his men to kill all that they saw on his first voyage to the new world. The Gulf has a long legacy of exploitation & destruction.
